Category : Via Diaries

Purva and Abhinav are not just a couple in love. The duo’s love for each other and for travel brings forth several interesting stories of their exploration of cultures, norms and cliches. Both are professional writers who love to pen the stories of their many journeys and experiences.

Want to know more about this travelling duo? Read on about Purva Bhatia and Abhinav Sahni.

Q. What inspired you to blog about travel? What was your first blog post about?

 A. The passion to travel and write urged me (Purva) to start a blog almost 5 years ago; it was called Happy Holidays then. But it was his (Abhinav’s) idea to convert it into a website and give it a makeover! I think my first blog was about my trip to Kerala.

Q. How do you prefer to travel (mode of transportation)?

A.  We prefer to take either my own vehicle or book a train or flight

Q. What are your favourite travel destinations (Indian & International)

A. India: Nainital (for Abhinav); Hampi (for Purva)…. International: Maldives (for both!)

Q. Who/what is your ideal travel partner?

A. Each other! We both have similar travel interests and styles. For instance, both of us like to enjoy a relaxed itinerary that gives us enough time to observe and understand our environment instead of a hectic trip that packs in too many “places to see” but leaves no time to be one with the destination. Of course, we have our share of tiffs and mood swings but we thoroughly enjoy each others’ company.

Q. What do you look for in a destination?

A. We look for Solitude, Scenic Locales, Cultural Exchange, New Cuisine

Q. What are the 5 things you always pack in your travel bag?

A. Clothes (of course!), good walking shoes, charger, swimming costume (except if we’re going to a cold destination), basic medicines

Q. What has been your most memorable journey so far? Why?

A.  We would have said our honeymoon because it was our first holiday together. But we’d say Macau-Hong Kong. It was a rare hectic holiday we took. We had to change flights, take a ferry, and figure out our route relying on the locals who barely spoke English. Tiring to the core, the journey had innumerable moments that could have caused serious fights between any couple. But we surprised ourselves. It was the first time we discovered how much we were in sync with each other and therefore it was the most memorable journey :)

 Q. What is your dream destination?

A. Greece

Q. Which blogs do you follow?

A. Nomadic Mat’s Travel Site, Travel Tales from India (Mridula), One Modern Couple , to name a few
