Under the watchful eyes of Salama, The wise Ghaf tree, It’s Rashid and Latifa’s job to save the world before it is too late.
Oh, isn’t it too tedious to manage for such a small boy and girl to save the planet that’s on the verge of sustaining many challenges?

Don’t worry!!! They are not alone in this journey. They will be supported by three guardians of three different pavilions, Mobility, Sustainability and Opportunity. Let us know them one by one to make your Expo 2020 Dubai Journey even more enjoyable.

Salama, The wise Ghaf tree at Expo 2020 Dubai

This is Salama. one of the best mascot at expo 2020 Dubai.

The Ghaf tree is known as the national tree of Dubai. The Ghaf tree was announced as the national tree of UAE in 2008 due to its cultural, historical and environmental significance. The Ghaf tree, an evergreen, flowering tree, withstand the harsh weather and environmental conditions in the UAE.

The leaves of trees are usually small to reduce the loss of water during evaporation. The Ghaf trees are deep-rooted trees and get water from the water table. This tree is the survival source for the ecosystem due to its evergreen ness.

Birds build their homes on the Ghaf trees. Few animals use the Ghaf tree for shelter.

At Expo 2020 Dubai, Salama, the wise Ghaf tree is there. This tall and majestic tree is on the outskirts of Expo 2020. It stands on a hill of desert and offers the best view of Expo 2020 Dubai.

During the development, organizers decided to keep a Ghaf tree at the Expo site and to be protected against heavy construction.

‘Salama’ represents this tree as a character and one of the 6 official mascots of this global event. Salam’s branches and leaves have been the witness of the formation of Dubai- highlighting the resilience, tolerance and stability through which the country has flourished.

Now, it’s the time to pass this knowledge, sustainability to the next generation. Rashid and Latifa have now been tasked with discovering her ancient secrets and completing her challenges.
